The whole idea of the main character being a Chinese female doctor caught in the middle of Covid 's outbreak really appealed to me and why I chose this book. The writer had me believing she WAS Joan. This book is poignant, humorous and profound. She did a beautiful job fleshing out the characters and giving each of them complex layers. I am really glad I bought this very unusual and unforgettable book. I believe that any adult of any gender would enjoy reading it and hope she writes many more.
