​Although office politics have been written about many times many ways, this is a whole new approach. It’s irreverent and unexpected. Nella has a coveted editorial assistant position at a publishing house in Manhattan where she is currently the only Black woman employed. But not for long. She is trying to make an impression. Not just with her boss, but the powers that be at Wagner Books where the diversity committee is merely a façade, at least to her all-white colleagues. Nella has an opportunity to give a sensitivity reading to a best-selling author’s in-the-works novel, which he believes depicts a diverse character.
