I was actually not too sold on the first volume of this two-volume story, thinking it was well written but that the characters were rather too stereotyped, and all too clearly divided into Goodies and Baddies. (To be fair, this is in some ways a necessary consequence of what the characters actually *are* in the scheme of things in the story.) In fact I had more or less decided not to bother with any sequels.
