Circularise started with two founders, Mesbah and Jordi, with a mission: to accelerate world's transition to a circular economy. The company was launched in 2016 after the founders visited a number of recyclers in the Netherlands. That's when they realised that while thousands of products were sent to recycling plants, they still ended up being incinerated or, even worse, put in landfills. The reason was simple - recyclers didn’t know what was inside all these products. What materials were used, what was their origin, were they hazardous? All these questions were left unanswered and that's when Circularise was born. We knew that with more transparency in supply chains, and better data exchange using digital product passports we can enable sustainable practices at scale. The development of a digital product passports platform for a circular economy requires a diverse and inclusing team. Over the last years Circularise has grown from two founders to over fourty people with more than twenty nationalities who bring together different perspectives and experiences but we’re still growing.
